Amplify Familiar is an active spell that boosts the familiar’s help with tidying. It is separate from patting the cat: Steam lists Power Overwhelming for amplification and Pat Da Kitty for 100 pats. Choose which goal you are pursuing before using a spell during a no-spells attempt.
What Amplify Familiar does
Open the enchanted ledger’s Spells tab and select Amplify Familiar. At 36:05 in the recording, its description says the boosted familiar helps tidy items. This is an actively cast ability, not a charm that simply becomes passive cat behavior.
The inspected screen shows level 0 of 5, an acquisition price of 100 gold, and the next level offering a 180-second cooldown with an item every second. These are values in one older recording, not a promise that every current version or upgrade level has the same numbers.
A cooldown tells you when an ability can be used again; it does not establish how long its effect lasts. The screen alone also does not tell us the familiar’s range, selection priorities or exact pathfinding.
How to approach Power Overwhelming
- Check whether you are currently trying to preserve a no-active-spells attempt. If so, leave amplification for another session.
- Inspect Amplify Familiar in your current ledger and read the price and next-level effect.
- If you choose to use it, acquire the ability and follow your current spell binding.
- Check the HUD for its cooldown and Steam for the achievement outcome.
The official Power Overwhelming condition is to amplify the familiar. It does not say to master every level of the spell. The inspected recording shows the spell assigned to 7; at 36:15, that slot displays a 180-second cooldown. We did not verify an achievement notification in those frames, so they support the spell explanation rather than an unlock guarantee.
Pat Da Kitty is a separate 100-pat goal
The official requirement for Pat Da Kitty is 100 pats of the familiar. Casting Amplify Familiar is a different action and should not be counted as a substitute for petting.
Approach the familiar and aim at it until the interaction prompt appears. At 09:50 in Beevr’s recording, the cat is outlined and the prompt reads E · Pat Familiar. Use the binding shown in your own game; E is the recorded keyboard binding, not a universal controller or remapped control. We have not verified whether holding the input repeats pats or whether progress carries across separate saves.
If you keep a manual tally, count it as a personal note, not proof of the game’s internal total. Check Steam for the actual achievement. This page does not read a petting counter from your save.
When familiar help fits your sorting workflow
For a spell-enabled cleanup, our suggestion is to use the familiar’s help while you concentrate on another clearly defined task, such as reading categories or reviewing one cabinet. Recheck the room indicators afterwards instead of assuming that the cat has completed everything nearby.
Compare the role of familiar help with Beckon, Homeward and Stackweaver. Choose a tool for the part of sorting that slows you down. We have not timed the familiar against those spells or established a fastest upgrade order.
If repeated meows become distracting, the developer’s Day One(ish) update documents a familiar-meow toggle in audio settings. The settings guide covers that alongside inventory readability and visual options.
Keep amplification out of a no-spells plan
The developer allows charms, the broom and the bell for Unlimited Patience. That statement does not exempt Amplify Familiar: the inspected ledger places it in the Spells tab and gives it a cast binding.
Our conservative recommendation is to pursue Power Overwhelming in a spell-enabled session. Read the Unlimited Patience guide before experimenting if that is your current goal. For the complete set of conditions, use the 22-achievement checklist.

We inspected the Amplify Familiar ledger and nearby HUD frames at 36:05 and 36:15 in atheenabean’s October 14, 2026 recording, and checked Steam achievement conditions on October 24. We also checked the visible petting prompt at 09:50 in Beevr’s October 15 recording. These recordings predate the October 16 patch. We have not tested held-input repetition, petting persistence, effect duration, the full upgrade curve or a live amplification unlock.
