Beginner’s Guide: A Calm Sorting Routine

A little order, a little magic.

A whole cabin can feel like a lot. A single shelf is a much friendlier place to start. This is our suggested routine for keeping the task manageable, rather than a mandatory route through the game.

Set yourself up

Before a long sorting session, make the interface comfortable. The October 16 update introduced a smaller inventory display and an option to show only the selected item’s name. Try these if the item list covers too much of your view.

Choose one small working area

Pick a shelf or a short stretch of the room. Read the names of the objects you are handling, then compare them with the nearby storage labels. Our recommendation is to work in small batches so that you can remember what you have already checked.

Keep a consistent direction around the room. If you find something confusing, leave yourself a note and revisit it after the nearby shelves are easier to inspect.

Separate progress from decoration

An arrangement that looks neat is easier to review, but appearance alone is not a reliable completion check. Read the game’s room indicators and shelf information before deciding an area is finished. The October 16 patch added a shelf-board item count when hovering over a shelved item.

Leave a useful stopping point

Before taking a break, finish the batch you are carrying and note the next shelf you intend to work on. This is a planning suggestion: it keeps your next session from starting with a search for where you left off.
